Regarding my battery drain on a Nexus 7 after installing 4.4.3, I tried the old Windows fixall, a simple restart, and the problem seems to have disappeared. And I've bookmarked that link to Nexus 5 Recovery!

I have a Nexus 7 and have no idea how to do your magic, clearing that cache. But would sure like to try. Since installing 4.4.3 my battery life took a dive even though after each use two app killers and verify that only unstoppable ones continue running... which include a small process of both...
