    Captive portal notification in 6.0

Yes, I always have network notification off. I'm sure there will be some sort of patch but I guess it may take a while.

    Captive portal notification in 6.0

Which app? The captive portal detection is part of Android. It could well be BT hotspots that are triggering it, I haven't had the problem today but then I am working from home today so I have a decent wifi signal.

    Captive portal notification in 6.0

Maybe there aren't so many captive portals where you are? Practically every wifi has a captive portal round here, everyone with a BT router, almost all 'free wifi's are captive, every coffee shop, restaurant, hotel etc.

    Captive portal notification in 6.0

I'm amazed there is not a long thread on this already, a google search revealed this is a known problem in 6.0 but not satisfactory solution yet. Since getting 6.0 on my Nexus 5 I have been plagued but constant captive portal notifications with sound and vibration. Sure, I could turn wifi off...

"Congratulations! You have won!" pop-ups? Should I worry?

Curious, I just decided to install Malwarebytes myself and the scan crashed for me too. Coincidence?

"Congratulations! You have won!" pop-ups? Should I worry?

I've been getting these too for the last few days. I THINK it only started after my Nexus 5 upgraded to Marshmallow. I did have non-trusted sources turned on for a short while as I was installing Amazon Prime Instant Video but that is off again now. I have run a scan with Avast but it has found...

    Lollipop 5.0.2

I've been using 5.0.2 on my Nexus 7 for a couple of weeks now and there is this one minor issue that niggles and I haven't seen mentioned. I use my 7 in landscape all the time and, when I switch on (wake up) the unlock page has a bar across the bottom that shows random noise with the back...

Your thoughts: Have we reached the point where people can keep their phones as long as computers?

I've always been happy to keep a phone 2-3 years after which time there tend to be physical problems rather than technical ones that prompt a refresh. All this trend means for me is that I don't feel so left behind. I just lent my old Pre3 to a work colleague this week after his phone broke...

Factory image/OTA for Nexus 5 5.0.1 update available

For what it is worth, I just got prompted this evening that 5.0.1 is available OTA. It has downloaded and is installing now.

How to copy files to Nexus 7?

Yeah, I would agree with this. It has never occurred to me to connect as a USB device since both the laptop and the tablet are connected to the same wifi so I just use ES File explorer to copy files around. In fact I am pretty sure I have never connected the USB to anything other than a PSU.

Anybody else still not have Lollipop on the Wifi-Only version?

I've been using it on my Nexus 5 for nearly a month now, I agree about the keyboard but it is easy enough to select the old style keyboard in settings. Really don't understand about the brightness thing, I just find the UI has nicer, clean lines and I much prefer the new card system although I...

    Nexus 5 Battery with 5.0

I didn't really notice much difference after wiping the system cache, what made the difference for me was disabling gmail which seemed to be using insane amounts of power. Google play services are still high though so maybe there is a problem there. Just installed gsam to see if that gives me...

    Lollipop killed stock "email" app!

For what it is worth I switched from a 3rd party email client (aquamail) to gmail when I got lollipop and was trying to get used to it's limited sync settings when I noticed huge battery drain from the gmail app. No idea why as I was syncing the same amount of email as before. Anyway, long...

    Nexus 5 Battery with 5.0

FYI, I uninstalled Gmail on Wednesday (reinstalled Aquamail instead) and since then my battery has been more normal. No massive drains from Gmail for no obvious reason.

    Nexus 5 Battery with 5.0

So, after stopping the gmail sync and nursing my phone (no casual games on my commute home) it stumbled through to 8pm (just). Today, I have a similar issue, gmail is still consuming half as much again as the screen. It is standing at 6% with 4m 17s of radio active and 633 packets received, 787...
