As a side note, I tried your suggestion of wiping the cache partition. That hasn't helped.

I got the phone from my carrier, virgin mobile in Canada.

I've tried both. shut off mobile data and used wifi. also tried just mobile data with wifi off. no difference noticed. as an update, I've reset the network settings this morning and it worked for a little while. now its back to the same.

Wondering if anyone else frquently needs to reset their network setting on their galaxy S8s. I forst notice that i cant download attachments in my gmail app, but if i use chrome and go to the mobile website, i can. Ive also noticed that i cannot force my phone or my gear s3 to perform a check...
