I studied both for about a week online and I don't think you can go wrong with either. I just picked up my GS3 today and i'm loving it. I have not had that problem. In fact my battery life is better than the EVO and Nexus S that I had previously. One thing you may want to try: Go to Settings>Battery&Data Manager>Battery Mode. Then choose "Maximum battery saver" mode. This will adjust the screen brightness and some other features.
