To us forum folk, Verizon's kinda looked bad all year. Bionic? SGS2? And now the Galaxy Nexus... So a quiet, late Nov - early Dec release seems "in character". Oh anticipation! I'm gonna have to do what I did when awaiting the SGS2: shutter Tapatalk for a few weeks and live like a normal person :p

Pre-order where? Unless you're "across the pond"...I should stop checking these forums so often :p Verizon and Google still have the same non-descript pages up.

Yeah, it was for the iPhone, summer 2009. When the other smartphone offerings were...unattractive. The new model (3GS) came out the very next day...which I didn't see coming because I wasn't a forum trolling nerd at the time (just a nerd). True story. At least they comped us. Though I'm not sure...

I'm in the same boat. Except I'm on AT&T. And Verizon's coy attitude could cost them a prospective customer. On the face of things, it sure looks as if they put little effort into acquiring compelling devices. ...come to think of it, that's the sole reason I switched to AT&T in the first place.

I'm a programmer. I've been on an iPhone (3G) since 2009, which is great, but stale. I'm looking to this as my next personal device. Also, I might get the opportunity to do some Android development soon...which I haven't had enough insomnia to do it in my free time :) Edit: just saw the poll...

Which makes it so awesome that the guy at the store told me I would have to get a second $30/2gb plan. Good thing I was just looking. But I knew better...I should've confronted him on that! It's stupid. I wonder how many customers he's screwed out of $10/month with that little trick.

This phone may just make me switch to Android. I like the UI features demoed in ICS. The Verizon reseller store I was in today thinks it'll be out "end of November or early December." But I realize they are forum-trolling phone geeks and don't actually know a whole lot more than anyone...

I'm curious, too. I found a big long thread, with no answer... Worth it? Only when/if your friends and family flock there. I like the interface better than Facebook...yet use it just a little :-P Guess I'm just an "asocialnetworking" person.

Sigh... Verizon is by no means to sole culprit for high prices. As I understand it, these devices actually are costly to produce. That's on the manufactures' shoulders, not the carriers'. Yes, this cost is getting passed on to the consumers and it kinda sucks. I actually doubt the carriers are...

The longer we wait, the less interested I become. Each day that passes makes the SGS2 older tech. My old phone is killing me, but...ugh It was that way with the long-overdue Xperia Play, too (in the US). Had it been available mid-June, it'd be sitting in my wife's pocket right now...instead, it...

I had a similar experience. I didn't even request an invite. One of my friends got me on by sending me a message, adding me to a circle, or something. I seem to have added my wife and brother by doing the same thing -- and never explicitly inviting them. It'd be slick if it weren't confusing :p

End of article: This seems like a stupid, yet almost(?) intentional strategy. Keep us awash in year-old Android tech so the iPhone can wow us once more, despite its run-of-the-mill features. True, that's a bit tin-foil-hat, but it's frustrating when this has been released overseas for months...
