Sounds defective... Try a different router. Upgrade the routers firmware. Mine was Plug N Play. I have used it on several wifi spots.

I've been monitorng a thread on XDA about editing a file to balance the left channel on the transformer. Since the hardware is similar maybe it can be done on the slider? I haven't checked of the custom Roms out there. Maybe one has something cooked into it to increase the volume output?
