Nothing really graphically different. 3G/4G icon different. No mobile data toggle anymore. Battery seems same to me, signal strength maybe a little worse but close.

It's not, all works fine. Usually problematic updates are associated to user error, not the OS. You should know, Mr. I have 4.4.2 ;)

Another way is to continually clear cache and data out of Google services framework over and over, each time searching for update after clearing. It took me three times and then it showed up

Update was not pushing to my phone when it first rolled out on 10/30. So I began to clear cache and data from Google services framework. After each time I cleared, I would check for update under system update. After three tries of clearing Google services framework the update showed up!
