Two Questions on JB Battery Drain Issue.

Hi folks, I just migrated to the S III from an EPIC 4G on Black Friday. One of the first things I noticed was the crummy battery life I was getting and Media seemed to be the primary culprit. I've been lurking for awhile and read the threads on this issue. All I've done so far to resolve is...

    Legendary ROM

I'm currently running Legendary RC2.1 with the Samurai 2.0.8 kernel. Runs smoothly with no issues I've noticed. I'm tempted to give the new 3.3 samurai kernel a try.

Looking for a new ROM, recommendations?

Just yesterday, I jumped from SFR 1.2/Genocide 2.0 to the Legendary 4.0.1 ROM. So far, so good. Haven't run into any problems as of yet, so I'm happy.

    Anybody know?

I'm running SFR 1.2/Genocide 2.0 and got that same notification this morning, too. I opted to disable the com.samsung service to shutoff the update notification messages while awaiting a gingerbread-based SFR ROM.

    [ROM][ACS]SyndicateROM Frozen 1.2 (Updated 6/20)

    That's my recollection, too.

    Trying to flash SRF 1.2

I believe it did and I remember once asking about this myself in another thread. I ended up flashing SFR 1.2 followed by the Genocide Kernel.

Former Palm Pre, now Epic 4g user missing webOS fuctionality

This is probably the one area that I still miss in webOS, too. Notifications for things like this in Android just suck, pure and simple.

Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI22 latest build WITH IMAGE

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread EI09 latest build I've been using K-9 and have been reasonably happy with it, since it handles both IMAP/Gmail and POP3. So I can use 1 email client, not two, for both email addresses I use. Sometimes it seems a little slow to connect to the servers (esp. GMAIL)...

Pre - to Epic... wow.. why did I wait.

I switched from the initial Palm Pre to an EPIC 4G last February. And even though I'm thoroughly happy with the EPIC and Android, I read this with a bit of regret. webOS was a sweet OS. Too bad HP couldn't pull it off...

    Brand new epic owner

Having just flashed SRF and the Genocide kernel myself, I can say that doing this isn't near as bad as it may seem at first. Follow the instructions given above, watch qbking77's videos and you'll be fine. To your specific question, yes, doing this does rid you of the Sprint bloat/spyware.

Ok, should I go the ROM route?

OK, so I found the time today to take the plunge. Despite my questions above, things went very smoothly after all. I'm now running SFR ROM ver 1.2 with the Genocide 1.1 kernal. Titanium restored my data without a hitch. After playing with it for an hour or so, everything seems just as it...

Ok, should I go the ROM route?

Thanks, Paul627g. From what I can gather it sounds like I'll still need to flash a kernel after flashing the ROM, correct? I've downloaded the sfr-1.2-final.zip and Genocide1.1_final.zip files.

Ok, should I go the ROM route?

I've been following this thread with great interest; rereading it several times, watching qbking77 videos, etc. Here's my situation: I'm running stock Froyo/EC05. I'm rooted and have CWM Purple installed, plus Titanium Backup Pro and Bloat Freezer installed. All of which seem to work fine...
