Every time there's an OS update there seems to be a group of users whose tablets suffer some degradation. For myself, I've never had a problem with my N7(2012) with any update. It seems to run better now than ever. Does anyone have any ideas what makes the difference?

Well, you need an internet connection to download maps, but after that there are several apps that allow navigation with no connection. I use Navfree with good results.

You might try Gutenburg.org, manybooks.com, or feedbooks.com. All of these have a lot (1000's) of classic, out of print books if that's what you're looking for. Manybooks is my favorite. For us old guys these are good. For you young guys - who knows. I have no experience with free books...

I've used NavFree for a while with good results. I navigated through Las Vegas the other day and it was pretty much up to date on the constant construction through down town. No wireless is needed after the initial download.
