Uninstalled updates and the search went back to behaving as normal. Going to update again and see if the problem persists. Reinstalled updated and search doesn't work...uninstalling until there is a fresh update. Posted via Android Central App

Good tip! Definitely noticed a difference. Maybe the lag is the device waiting to see if you are going to double tap for S Voice... NEVER use that anyway so I went ahead and disabled it (Go into S-Voice and go into settings) and have notice a much better response going back to the home screen.
