In my case I had a prexisting SIM card I just moved over, but as far as I know all you need to do for a new GoPhone service for the Note is buy an AT&T SIM card (don't need to buy a whole phone) and then activate the SIM on the website...

All this stuff about trying to trick AT&T into thinking it's a dumbphone is only relevant if your trying to get away with using the $50/month unlimited voice/text/data feature-phone GoPhone plan. If you don't use the phone off wi-fi enough for the $50 deal to be worth it, you can just get one...

AT&T LG Thrive (LG Optimus One) does have Carrier IQ according to Lookout's app. Factory-unlocked Samsung Galaxy Note (UK, 16GB, black) doesn't (no surprise there, since no carriers have touched it)

Max of 32GB with no micro sd slot is a no-no for me. The 1750mah battery makes me nervous as well. And it's not even clear how available the 32GB model will be, e.g. Clove's only selling the 16GB one. I have a 32GB sd card in my current phone--I can't see downgrading to something with less total...

I tried updating my Thrive yesterday, and received the invalid package error. Couldn't find the file it downloaded. (Where would it be?) I tried again today and now I'm getting the "no update available" message.
