    credit card readers

Yes, I cut that plastic off mine too, but I couldn't get it to work until I installed Voodoo sound which finally gave me enough mic volume. Mic sensitivity has to apparently be quite high for the reader to talk to the phone.

    Bonsai v4.1.3 has been released

I forgot to mention one other thing that's been happening since I flashed Bonsai. I keep bluetooth off since I don't use it very often but it always turns on by itself when the phone is in power save hibernation. If that by design or is there a ghost in the machine?

    Bonsai v4.1.3 has been released

Thanks. Nice try, but I don't have VooDoo sound. Any idea how best to clean the phone jack contacts? I really don't think that's it, but it's worth a try. UPDATE: VooDoo sound wasn't the problem, but instead turned out to be a solution to the problem. After downloading it, I turned up the...

    credit card readers

Does anyone know of a decent credit card reader for the Epic. I tried Intuit's Gopayment solution, which is an audio jack device. They say it's compatible with my Epic4g, and I've tried two devices and reinstalled the software, but to no avail. I know the audio jack works with my headset mic.

    Bonsai v4.1.3 has been released

I'm using Bonzai 4.1.1 right now and I'm not sure if this is an issue with my version of Bonzai or the Epic in general, but I can't get a credit card swiper from Intuit to work on the phone. They say it's compatible with the phone. The reader connects to the phone through the audio jack and it...

Bonsai v4.1.1 General Release now available

Fixing permissions and clearing the cache doesn't help. Clearing data? How? And what is journaling and what are the pros and cons of using it? How would it have helped in this situation? I sure hope they get this figured out because I like the ROM but so far it's been a lot of trouble because...

Bonsai v4.1.1 General Release now available

Well I thought I had it licked, but it locked up twice today, once while entering a phone number to make a call, and after the last battery pull I've now got an error that keeps popping up. It says: "The application Google Services Framework (process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped...

Bonsai v4.1.1 General Release now available

I cleared both caches from clockwork and also fixed permissions there and it hasn't locked up since. Very smooth. However, I just downloaded youtube and it won't work at all. I'll try the same fix. Well that worked. Youtube is fine now, but it just locked up while I was using the calculator.

Bonsai v4.1.1 General Release now available

Installed it today, and it froze requiring a battery pull three times in two hours. I was entering text using Swype each time when it happened.

    Virus going around?

why is it so unthinkable that a phone could get a keystroke logger or other malware that reports what you do to the maker?

    [Root] Samsung Epic 4G Official Froyo EC05 w/Optional EXT4

One more question please. Once I'm done with this, and just to confirm, I'll still have root access and EXT with EC05 running on it, right? Will I then be able to flash a different ROM and keep bluetooth functionality? I may want to try Bonsai or ACE.

    [Root] Samsung Epic 4G Official Froyo EC05 w/Optional EXT4

Thank you Paul. I assume that I'll need to back up whatever I can first since the process is probably destructive. Do people prefer titanium or clockwork in this situation?

    [Root] Samsung Epic 4G Official Froyo EC05 w/Optional EXT4

Thanks, what is the best way to upgrade from where I'm at now? I already have root access, EXT and clockwork installed, so should I still use method 2 at the beginning of this thread, or is there some simpler way to fix the bluetooth issue without disturbing all of my data?

    [Root] Samsung Epic 4G Official Froyo EC05 w/Optional EXT4

adding bluetooth voice capability I'm running a rooted Epic that's on Froyo.EB13 and an EXT file system. I'm basically happy with my functionality except that voice commands don't work with bluetooth. What is the easiest way to fix it? I need full bluetooth capability before I get another $130...

    tethering a router

If the DSL on my home router goes out, I'd like to be able to use the 3g connectivity of my Epic on the home network. Is there a way to connect my home wireless router to the Epic signal in a pinch? I realize that the speed won't be good, but at least I'll be able to work on my desktop machine...
