just use nova or apex, jeez. Way more features and much easier to install.

it's been like this for awhile. I mean, nothing compares to the options for the iPhone, but my crappy Virgin Mobile Optimus V had an otterbox for it. Most phones coming out these days will have at least a few options to choose from, especially flagships from Motorola.

Nothing is as satisfying as putting a lightning connector into an iPhone 5+, but the Moto X is fine.

I prefer Apex because it's always been smoother. Nova crashes for me from time to time and doesn't handle the transparent bars well.

The only method I knew of to root the Moto X was through PwnMyMoto or MotoRoot, which supposedly don't work anymore on the new firmware. So, there's no root method working now, right?

I have the Speck Candyshell. I had the Otterbox, but it was a tad too bulky. Still pretty nice and slim with the Speck.
