From personal use the power saver function has increased by battery life by a few hours which is great. Definitely agree and suggest enabling this function if battery life is a concern.

There really hasn't been much proof that battery cycling helps or harms the overall battery life of a phone so you should be fine by using it as normal. Just charge when needed there shouldn't be a problem.

Take a look at what is running the most on the phone and if it is a process that you are not currently using, go ahead and put a stop to it. It is common that you can improve battery life just by stopping these background processes.

Based on usage your battery will drain much faster. The rate of drain you report though is obviously much higher than it should be. Try removing the micro SD card as that has been known to be a possible read issue that leads to battery drain with the newest Jelly bean update.

If you are looking to upgrade to a new tablet you may want to consider the Acer Iconia Tab A700 which ranks in at 13 hours of battery life. Assuming you will be on the go often at college, a tablet with high battery life will be important :)

Once I switched from iPhone to the Galaxy S3 I never looked back. Now I cannot wait to upgrade to the new S4!

Just got this phone for testing! Been enjoying the battery life on the S4 even while heavily using the phone. Definitely impressed.

I am a big fan of the HTC One as it is one of the best phones I have ever tested. My only wish is that they made the battery removable. I know this is a small concern but it was the only thing I would wish they changed.

Took a look into your issue and it seems that a factory reset should resolve it.

Only suggestion would just to be aware of what your screen may be pressed up against. In a pocket with your keys one small move may rub the phone the wrong way :/

A good microfiber cloth with some LCD screen cleaning solution will do the job. Just be sure to spray the cloth and not the screen.

I would suggest looking into some of the specifications that are important to you. The Nexus 4 has a stronger battery life so if that is something you find important, stick with the Nexus 4.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 seems to be the winner in this match-up due to overall features. The HTC One really only matches the S4 in camera quality and design while the rest of the specifications and features appear to be better on the S4. As for the color, up to you :)
