Yes...the update has fixed the issue....I have not had the issue since the 10/8 update.

Google app updated today in the Play store....hopefully this issue is fixed with the update.

I as well had this happen starting yesterday Wednesday Sept 24.....it works fine for a while, then freezes exactly as your screenshot shows....I can still navigate my phone..go home..go to app drawer..etc..., but cannot see anything under the voice to text box and cannot close the box without...
