Galaxy Apps overwriting / taking over Google Apps installs?

I saw a similar thing but not for _active_ subscriptions. For active subscriptions, it stayed w/ Google Play. However, for the one app that has in-app purchases, it's now defaulting to Samsung Pay. It's all quite bizarre so far and I wish the flip-flopping would stop without me having to change...

Galaxy Apps overwriting / taking over Google Apps installs?

Yes - and that works kinda of .. However, this was different. This replaced apps I haven't installed from Samsung. So I couldn't turn it off per app until after it happened. So now I have to leave auto-updates off across the board to prevent it from replacing apps from Google Play by itself.

Galaxy Apps overwriting / taking over Google Apps installs?

In these releases the differences were UI related as far as I can tell - the app still functions but there are features pertaining to usability that are gone using the Samsung aged version. It's just odd - 'taking over' apps to me seems really odd but I get I'll get used to it. Thanks...

Galaxy Apps overwriting / taking over Google Apps installs?

So for Lyft - therein lies the problem. Lyft for Samsung is the same 'new customer' promotion every reference gives you. If you, like me, have already used it - it provides no benefit. Just forced an old version on me without my consent. Then I have to uninstall it - install the one I want. And...

Galaxy Apps overwriting / taking over Google Apps installs?

It appears they are in competition with each other - I was in the unfortunate position to see two behaviors I'm not a big fan of: 'Lyft for Samsung' overwrote my regular Lyft and it's an **OLDER** verion (Audible and Freedome were current) Google Play thinks Lyft is current and installed and...

Galaxy Apps overwriting / taking over Google Apps installs?

That's still not terribly comforting - I have to have the Galaxy Apps installed to update Samsung things. Then it can - without consent - OVERTAKE my other apps with Samsung versions? And I can't see what 'that list' is ... unlike in Google Play where I can see everything installed / managed, I...

Galaxy Apps overwriting / taking over Google Apps installs?

This happened today for the first time although I've been using the Galaxy Apps and Google Play in parallel since I've gotten the phone. Galaxy Apps downloaded and replaced three of my apps from Google Play - one of them, Lyft, is not Lyft for Samsung. Google Play shows all three apps still...

    Turn Off Email Notifications

    1) When you goto the forums.androidcentral.com site - to the right of your avatar (upper left) you'll see a 'Settings' drop-down. Select 'General' and then change 'Default Thread Subscription Mode' 2) Then you also goto the 'subscribed threads' link below that drop-down and unsubscribe from the...

Why am I not seeing email and message notifications??

So, if I understand you correctly, the notification audio and vibration work but the notification bar does not show the Gmail icon? For that matter - is it the Gmail app you're using? I know on a HTC Android phone I handled had an email app that the notification bar icon was an option. I imagine...

Unresponsive keyboard - tried a lot of things, including replacement phone.

Some hours later I have found a potential culprit - an odd one at that - default keyboard sounds conflicting w/ a Bluetooth headset. Potentially I say because I'm fairly sure I was experiencing the problem before I re-setup my Plantronics headset. When I was doing one thing at a time as I...

Unresponsive keyboard - tried a lot of things, including replacement phone.

Early yesterday my S7 edge started having pretty epic keyboard unresponsiveness - not lag, just not allowing any input for a while. I started down the chain of things recommended that included the touch screen test ("*#0*#"), wipe cache, reset(s), .. I was already using the Google Keyboard but...

How can I tell if a text msg. I sent has been read by the recipient?

In standard SMS messaging, you cannot - there are certain alternative messengers that provide that functionality like Facebook Messenger, Wickr, and others but nothing for SMS.

    Nexus launcher or Nova launcher?

I much prefer the Google Launcher simply because it's agile, clean, and I don't have to re-icon/theme much of anything - nor do I find any incompatible widgets. It's certainly not as flexible but I enjoy the simplicity and stability it has provided me over both Nova and TouchWiz in a few days of...

    T-Mobile S7 Edge - coming from Nexus - lots of questions ..

There are actually some that don't appear to - they only seem to update from within the 'About' or 'Version' sub-menus. The Play Store Samsung apps not updating automatically seems to have been an anomaly as others updated (per your note) some hours later. It's just the Galaxy App managed ones...

    T-Mobile S7 Edge - coming from Nexus - lots of questions ..

Interesting - oddly none of the 'top tips' pages link that application so this is a huge help. Thank you! Sincerely .. Now if Samsung would only respond on the bloody updates question (I queried them as well), that pretty much settles it.
