    Finally Upgraded! Now at GS9

Well, my trusty old GS5 finally gave up the ghost. It suffered from the "battery inflation" issue, and although it probably would still function toady if "activated," it was time to put it out to pasture. Thus, I now own brand new GS9. I did not go with the 10 or 105g, primarily due to the...

##Hash Tag Cmds## Do they work?

    Any hope of "re-enabling" them?

##Hash Tag Cmds## Do they work?

I'm currently using a GS5 with Android 6.0.1, updated though 07/01/2017 and with Verizon service. I've seen these YouTube videos, claiming that you can enter all these different hash tag codes to get various bits of information about your service. For example, they claim that you can find out...

    Android 6.0.1 sound/notification issues.

I'm currently at Android 6.0.1. on my GS5. But I've noticed some changes in sound and vibrate notifications. In prior versions, I could select different vibration types for things like "Messages" vs. "email" vs. phone ringing. I don't see the options for doing that now. Did something...

Do you plan on updating to Lollipop, or you will stay with KitKat?

Thanks anyway, but as I've just discovered, it was a false alarm. It was just my touching skills that needed a touch up! I can configure it to work OK, now. Still taking a bit of getting used to with Lolipop, though.

Do you plan on updating to Lollipop, or you will stay with KitKat?

I now wish I had stayed with KitKat. (on my GS5s) :( I would have, but that pesky notification system just doesn't want to take "NO" for an answer! The standard email app restricts my ability to customize the "user" field when setting up a POP3 account. It asks for the "email address,"...

    Font color change?

Is is possible to change the font color *only* for the "Lock Screen" as opposed to the both main and lock screens? The point being, The wall paper I'm using on the lock screen has a white background and the clock is washed out. But not so on the main screen. If not, then I guess I'll have to...

Where to change email polling interval in stock email app?

Sorry for the late reply. No, I haven't tried the other apps. In fact, I'm doing my best to divest myself of Yahoo! mail. Since i have my own mail domain from my own hosting service, I'm trying to switch all those Yahoo mail aliases over. I think, in the wake of all this new "email spam...

Where to change email polling interval in stock email app?

I do have Yahoo linked to it, but I also have an email from the server at my own domain. It's 15 minutes minimum as well.I don't have a Hotmail address so I can't test that. If you know of any other services, I'd be interested in trying them.

Where to change email polling interval in stock email app?

I just did this on my GS5. Unfortunately, the shortest interval I can choose is 15 minutes. I'd like it to be 5. :'(

    My 1st Verizon "Auto Update"

I've also seen a product caleld "Holo Backup." What's your take on that one?

    My 1st Verizon "Auto Update"

Thanks much. As it turns out, I was able to Google the above and completed the update. I only wanted to know what specifically was being updated. I'll search for the right backup software. I'd prefer an app that doesn't save or sync to any cloud storage. Only locally to my desktop. Thanks.

    My 1st Verizon "Auto Update"

Good Morning all. Hope you holidays are going well, and that you all have a very happy and prosperous new year. This morning, I woke up to see a white popup on my Verizon GS5... "Software Update ready to install..." for the 1st time (since I got the GS5). But it doesn't tell me what it's...

Hello all - New to Android!

Update: Problem resolved! :D I had purchased a bluetooth ear device for the phone, and paired it appropriately. It works. A little "too well." :D Apparently, when the device is "activated," it puts the phone on "mute/vibrate" (as opposed to "sound"). Whatever sound would play is now...

What are your views in google and privacy?

I don't think I could reasonably expect "100%" privacy in this day and age, unless I hide in a stone bunker with no access and my "tin foil" suit on... :D :D :D Nonetheless, I will still fight for as much privacy as I can maintain and over which I retain control. Yes, the phone co. would know...
