Android Auto still feels like BETA

Mine is always defaulted to "Charge Only", my connection is always dropping abruptly. I'm troubleshooting it now to see if it's the cable I'm using or if the fault has to do with the USB-C. It's happening more and more often. Switching it to file transfer does not always solve the issue
