My Nexus 9 used to die and not turn on or respond to bootloader button combo. If I plugged it in with wall charger and held the vol up vol down and power button for a full 1-2 minutes it would turn back on. Not sure if it will work for the pixel but won't hurt to try.

If you pull down the notification shade and long press the power saver icon till app info appears open it and hit force stop. Power saver still functions but will no longer be in your notifications until you reboot or modify your power saver settings. Posted via Android Central App
