Not all are. I am in Canada on the Bell network and have had this phone (H831) since launch....no updates at all so far. I don't think I'll be buying another LG device after this.

You will need to root first, then install CM recovery or twrp, make a complete nandroid backup through the recovery before you install a new ROM. This is the only way I know to do it. The best thing to do is read and read some more, there are lots of tutorials on rooting on xda forums. Hope...
