Yup. Did that. It reboots to a dead android with a red warning triangle and it states "No Command". I held the power button again and it reboots to the boot locker unlocked and starts up again. I then try to install the update again, and get the same result, a dead android with a red warning...

Ok. Moto G - Kitkat 4.4.2 - keeps nagging to install an update. It will not do it. Ends in an Error everytime. The Bootloader is unlocked so that has voided the warranty. Aye. Brilliant phone, but it just just won't update. Pain in the arse, but heyho. Has to be through Mototola, as phones4u will only take replace within a month. Had it for a month and a half. Should be oh hopefully.

So I take it this is unfixable and nobody has a clue about this? Should I just take the phone back and request a new one, after all it is under guarantee. Been all over the web and no one is reporting this this apart from me. What do you think?

Yes It is a sim phone... Tried it without the sim. Same result.
