I get the same broken link in Android 6.0, but not in Android 5.0 on another phone. I have tried several messaging apps with the same result, so it appears to be an OS issue. This has to impact a lot of people who rely on sending map links via SMS.

Not an option on Android 2.2.1, I think. Maybe there's an app to do it.

[edited] Looks like pin 4 on the micro USB is used as an analog sense pin into the phone. A resistor is connected between this pin and pin 5, which is ground. Resistor value seems to be dependent on manufacturer. As pin 4 is normally not connected to a wire, it requires cutting the connector...

Re: FM radio won't play without headphones. Compared to the other receivers in the phone (GPS, Bluetooth, cellular, WiFi), FM has a much longer wavelength and thus requires a much bigger antenna, ideally around a meter.
