Get terminal emulater from the market..open it up. Type su and press enter. Then type a2sd cachesd. This will only work if you are running dta2sd beta 4 (I think) or there is an app that works with dta2sd called a2sdgui that is a ui for the scripts. Both are quite easy to use.

Or you can just push an animation called hTC_bootanimation.zip to data/local. Any boot animation can be used. Just name it correctly and push it to the right spot.

The hotspot will connect multiple devices but only works at 3g. The wifi tether will do I think 2 devices and works at 4g. And no, you won't get charged from sprint.
