How underpowered really is the Pixel 4a?

I believe the 730G and Snapdragon 845 (Pixel 3's chip) are in the same ballpark benchmark-wise, I think the 845's GPU is better, but the 730G's CPU is better. Realistically, unless you're slamming the CPU or GPU, it's likely you'll not notice a huge performance difference.

Is anyone else underwhelmed with Android 10?

I've used every Android major version since Froyo except Gingerbread, Honeycomb, and Ice Cream Sandwich, and to me, it seems like Android peaked some time late in the Jelly Bean days. Honestly the biggest downgrade was Android Pie and above acting like you have a huge notch in the middle of...

No Dark Mode for Gmail or Google App, anyone else?

https://9to5google.com/2019/10/21/gmail-dark-theme-android-ios/ Seems to suggest that force-stopping the gmail app will get it to work?

No Dark Mode for Gmail or Google App, anyone else?

Sounds like Gmail dark mode has been rolled out to everyone after a rather annoyingly long trollout.

Anyone considering upgrading their 3a or XL to a Pixel 4?

I might consider it when there's the "Pixel 5 leaking" firesale happens about a year from now. But I'm more likely to get a Pixel 4a or whatever it's called?

    Dark Gmail

From all signs, this is one of Google's patented server-side trollouts. I still don't have dark mode here.

Will the 6p and 5x be sold by Verizon Wireless in the next few months?

I believe Google has said that the phone won't be sold by carriers in the US.

Anybody on Verizon know if you can add carrier insurance through Asurion?

Actually, if I recall correctly, they replace your phone with a device that they consider "similar". Which might not be similar at all.

    Google Nexus 6 on Verizon

Re: Verizon VoLTE I'm assuming that it'll be pushed the same way that the planned T-Mobile wifi calling update will be pushed. Not that I'm entirely sure how that will happen.

    Nano Sim Question

But devices usually come with SIMs of the appropriate size. You'd have to go online to activate them, though. And as far as I can tell, you can just swap SIMs between devices. I've done this, and Verizon even knew that I'd switched devices.

Post pictures taken with the Moto X (1st gen) here

Re: Post pictures taken with Motorola X here Not too bad if shrunk down to 1024 pixels wide. However, if you look at the original it's very noisy. And pretty easy to figure out where I was when I shot this, if you're so inclined.

Re: Post pictures taken with Motorola X here A couple shots I took in the past few days... Unretouched, and uploaded to Flickr. These are the versions resized to 800 pixels wide.

Why is Android named after candy?

Could also be Licorice. Or Lemon Meringue Pie. Or KitKat (there were two major versions of Eclair and three of Jelly Bean). Or it could be 5.0.

What Moto X2 Needs: Truely Custom CPU

IMO, it's likely that either the custom chips that Google would design wouldn't be any better (and probably would be worse) than the currently available options or Google would need to sink enough money into R&D that it'd take too long to recover their costs.
