News I'm happy this annoyingly popular watch display tech is dying a slow death

AMOLED battery life is for “raise to wake” mode. It drops considerably for always-on mode.

    B380 update?

Yes, I had the same problem on L04 with B360 using a clean install with factory reset, with no non-Google apps besides the Microsoft suite and Nova Launcher. The drain comes from Android OS and Android System. I had a similar problem with Nougat on a Nexus 6P on my company's commercial Cisco...

    B380 update?

Just another echo of exactly the same experience as the OP. "Upgraded" to B360, battery life dropped about 50% (from about 7 hours SoT to less than 3.5), mostly in standby (Android System and Android OS taking up more than half the battery). Did a factory reset and it was good for about two to...

how is the 5x battery compared to original N5?

Yikes. I can barely get 3.5hrs SOT on mine, and all I do is browser, Google Now, Facebook, and RSS reader. Yes, FB is greenified. Mine drops 10% in two hours of sitting on my desk, unused.

Google Nexus 9 Flex in the back of the tablet?

Re: Flex in the back of the tablet? I posted about a suggestion I did with a very old ICS tablet many moons ago: http://forums.androidcentral.com/google-nexus-9-tablet/457308-padding-nexus-9-back-cover-pu-pe-sheet-prevent-creaking-squeezing.html Anyone want to think about trying something...

Padding Nexus 9 back cover with PU/PE sheet to prevent creaking and squeezing?

Dude. Drunk posting is the best! Mental lubrication makes for all sorts of thinking that wouldn't normally happen (and I'm not being sarcastic).

Padding Nexus 9 back cover with PU/PE sheet to prevent creaking and squeezing?

I think some other posters have made the point better than I have, but, while true, and while I'm no materials engineer, I doubt I would be using any material that has a poorer coefficient of thermal conductivity than air. If you trust the engineering toolbox, air comes in around 0.024 W/mK...

Padding Nexus 9 back cover with PU/PE sheet to prevent creaking and squeezing?

Still, it's a really good point. The last time I tried that I think was with.... an HTC Thunderbolt? Or maybe it was that early first Asus ICS tablet? I forget. Either way, the device never heated up, so it wasn't an issue. But I think I've read the N9 does get hot. If the N9 has an internal...

Padding Nexus 9 back cover with PU/PE sheet to prevent creaking and squeezing?

Ah, interesting idea. But without any vents in that back plate, and given that air is a fairly good heat insulator, do you think it's really likely that somehow the heat would be able to escape? The gap is probably less than a millimeter -- that doesn't sound like much of a heat sink (and air...

Padding Nexus 9 back cover with PU/PE sheet to prevent creaking and squeezing?

I've read a lot of reviews that say that the Nexus 9's back has a lot of give -- you can poke and squeeze the thin plastic back and it will sag inward. Has any industrious individual taken that back plate off to see what it looks like? I recall "fixing" an early tablet by sticking a thin sheet...

Android 4.1.2 OTA Update Now Rolling Out to Nexus 7 - Adds Landscape Mode

Edit> Nevermind, figured it out. For anyone else having this problem, I had edited the build.prop to manually get a rotatable home screen. Bleh and I wiped my data already.... Drat. ==== I reset frameworks and got the update. About 25% of the way into installing, I get the red triangle dead...

Found a 64 GB flash drive for $35 on ebay

Ordered one -- that will be great with an OTG cable. Thank you!!

    Longer Charging Cable

My Motorola-supplied cable with the N7 stock charger also did not turn on the "charging" notification. I purchased a HP Touchpad charger -- 2.0A and a much longer cord at approximately 5 feet -- and it works just like the stock N7 charger and cable for $10 on Amazon.

Cheap eBay case for Nex 7-- not so good.

Eh, it does it job while I wait for a better case -- I can throw my baby in the work bag with a bunch of other crap and not worry about scratching her up. I've bought some cheapies off eBay in the past and they've worked fine. This was probably the worst of them all. Just figured I'd let you...

Cheap eBay case for Nex 7-- not so good.

Got this one off eBay 2 days after the announcement. Leather Case Cover +3X LCD Screen Protector For Asus Google Nexus 7" Inch Tablet | eBay I think it was designed for the Kindle Fire and sold as for the N7 -- it's a good half-inch too tall so the N7 jiggles around inside it. Oh well.
