What is up with the "incapsula" page

It's better now, but not completely resolved. For example, the BBM 2.0 story (BBM 2.0 and the slew of new features #CESlive | Android Central) on the front page has the Incapsula captcha page showing up in the iframe where the video should appear.

[Closed] Win an NVIDIA Shield or Tegra Note from AC and NVIDIA!

Hearing about how fast these Nvidia devices are, I'd love to put one through its paces (and have fun while doing it). I guess my first choice, if we get a choice, would be the tablet for both work and play.

    N10 battery cycle

That old dilemma you refer to applies to NiCad and NiMH batteries. Lithium-ion batteries have no memory effect, so you can charge them up whenever you have access to an outlet. Note that Li-ion does not like being fully discharged or kept at full charge for extended periods of time. Extreme...

    Asus Transformer TF300 ($279) or Nexus 10 ($399)

Thanks for the detailed writeup, jgk5020. Looking forward to your comparison with the N10. The TF300 doesn't have the horsepower of the N10, but with the much higher resolution screen in the N10, I wonder how you'll find its responsiveness.

    Nexus 10 at retailers?

Bummer they disappear so fast, but it's good news for the N10. My N7 will keep me company until I get a hold of an N10.

    N10 Desktop

The only thing that you might take into consideration is the life of the backlight. However, you'd probably replace (i.e., upgrade) the tablet before it burned out. Nevertheless, an app that truly turns off the display when connected to an external monitor would be ideal.

best charging method for battery longevity?

Correct! No memory on Lithium. That applies to Nickel-based rechargeables. Not obsolete. It just doesn't apply to Lithium-based batteries like those in the N7, laptops and cell phones. However, if you use AA or AAA rechargeable batteries that are based on NiMH, then you should fully discharge...

Should I get a protection plan on my Nexus 7

The screen is not bulletproof. Rather than try to guess how durable the tablet is, consider the worst-case scenario. If your N7 breaks, how painful will it be for you to purchase a replacement? If it would be a financial burden and it will be operated in a "dangerous" environment (see YAYTech's...

best charging method for battery longevity?

+1. But, in case you aren't up for reading all the details, here's the short and short of it for Li-Ion batteries: 1. Fully charging the battery gives the best run time, but shortens the battery's life. 2. Smart chargers (on quality devices) will automatically turn off charging when the battery...

    4.2 battery life

Go through all the Google apps and services and disable automatic/background updates and notification on anything you don't really need. The more the N7 wakes up, the less battery is left when you need it.

    4.2 battery life

Ah, good to see confirmation of that. The Play app was a power hog on 4.1 as well. I always check for it and kill the app before I turn off my N7, which might be why it didn't seem to have changed in 4.2. Too many services not playing nicely.

    4.2 battery life

High power consumption by Maps, especially when you're not using, may be due to the Network Location Service. I first encountered the bad behavior on my phone and disabled the service there. Then, did the same on the N7. Made a big difference in battery life. Even though I turned off WiFi...
