I backed up my contacts and ringtones and did a factory reset. upon the restart I did receive a new message "updgrade successful" or something simliar. Imported contacts back setup my email accounts.... battery life is better I'm at 14 hrs 59 min and still have 46% battery which is much better...

I received the update and my battery life is half of what it was and I have uninstalled the few apps I had, display is 39% and off in 30 seconds or less (less because I turn it off as soon as I am done with the phone) if I get a phone call it drops even faster. Signal now drops when it didn't...

Ditto for my galaxy SII as well after the ICS upgrade, have to plug it in during the day instead of being able to go several days. I had very few apps and removed them with zero improvement. I will never accept another upgrade and deal with the annoying reminder until I know the upgrade works...

Did you just get the software update? If yes that is the issue because that is what happended to mine. If you search Sprints forums you'll see a lot of people had this issue with the IC update and we are waiting for fixes.
