Is it possible that you've installed a free app which advertises by SMS? Some apps actually do that. They'll say they don't have ads in the app, but they'll keep advertising through messages. I'm not sure if that's the case here.

Thanks for the info Wolfroid. I forgot to say that I have already updated my Galaxy Nexus to Android 4.2. But it's helpful to know all this for future reference. :)

Yes, these effects were removed in Android 4.2. It was there up until Android 4.1.2 though.

You can already do that on the stock Android keyboard, couldn't you? If you hold one of the top row letter keys, the number which occupies the same spot in the secondary keyboard will pop up.

Since it has recently been updated to Android 4.2.1, it is a non-yakju variant. The update has recently landed on yakjuux, yakjuxw, etc. Galaxy Nexus phones. As for the problem, I have not encountered it myself. So I suggest going with what +pontiac005 said and request some help from your carrier.

I myself find the stock browser to be a little bit faster. Both have good functionality. I'm quite happy that the stock browser is still there on the Galaxy Nexus, even after updating to Android 4.2.
