FWIW, prior to the Lollipop update, Widgets were accessible in the App Drawer. This no longer seems to be the case. They're still accessible, of course, by either "pinching" or "touching-and-holding" a home screen.

The latest update to File Manager from Cheetah Mobile no longer exhibits these limited, albeit useful, functions. Frankly, it may be due to the latest Verizon update or the app itself - not sure which.

If you go into Settings and check for updates, the update's availability should be detected. Then you should get a pop-up box that allows you to choose if/when you want to update.
Thanks for the perspective. With two of my three devices (Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Tab 3 8.0) already running KitKat, I'm inclined to root and install Gnabo or some other 4.4+ ROM.
