This is a long time later but, since the advent of Lollipop, the ability for third party access to sd cards is now available. A lot of MP3 Editors hobbled themselves because of previous Android restrictions and now I see a lot of mp3 editor apps for Lollipop but none on Google Play or Amazon...

I don't know if this will help anyone but having the same non-list view favorites, I found that if I went to Groups and then Starred in Android, it comes up in a List View.

I've had this same problem since October when I first got my Galaxy S5. Just about everything that has been suggested or chronicled here, I too have tried. This is on Verizon. Just last week I went into their store and it just so happened that Lollipop had been released for Verizon-Android...
