Nexus 4 Owners Impressions of the HTC One?

I was curious if any of you have tried the HTC One extensively or even switched to it? I, myself, have been using the AT&T version for the past week and still have minor reservations. I love the aesthetics and hardware build of the One: it's solid, tall, has a gorgeous display, impressive...

    No "drag" required to unlock?

Same here. Ahhh the simplest things I miss on my Nexus 4.

    HTC One Rooting?

Say I want to keep Sense 5 because I like it but want to unlock the SIM, discard the AT&T bloatware, and enable tethering. Can I do that with just unlocking the bootloader and root or will I need to install a full custom ROM?

    Att early upgrade question

The early upgrade applies to all smartphones. AT&T just pushed the iPhone as their default. I've tested this myself by going to this party resellers (Amazon, Costco, etc.) and clicking the upgrade button. Each of those times, AT&T shows I can early upgrade five months before 24 mos contract.

Just held the HTC one in the store

Thx. Downloaded it and I see my menu button disappeared on my Nexus 4. I'm curious what it does with other non-Nexus Android devices.

Anyone NOT happy with their choice?

I'm confused. Don't you need a rooted phone to add any non authorized apps? And isn't the AT&T One X bootloader locked and thus unrootable?

HTC One X vs Samsung Galaxy S3

The Verge had this say between the two: ------------------------- "Where Samsung falls behind its direct competitor is in the actual feel of the phone. Although the sides of the white Galaxy S III and the front of the dark blue version both sport a brushed metal look, they're made out of good...

HTC One X vs Samsung Galaxy S3

From an aesthetics and design point of view: U.N.I.N.S.P.I.R.E.D Same South Asian styling Samsung just can't kick. Didn't they hire Chris Bangle's design firm last year for their products? Doesn't look like it from this device.

    Amazon pre-order

Not quite. You have to use it a min if 6 months. If you don't, you would pay an ETF with Amazon. This fee is SEPARATE from the ETF with your carrier. Essentially you would pay two ETFs if you cancelled early. I believe Amazon did this to discourage users upgrading their phones for little to no...

    Can this rival the iPhone?

Excellent points and well put post, Taft! The One X will be my Android device as well and I don't forsee myself returning to O/S's with simpler UI such as iOS or WP. From my initial experience with the One X, the iPhone 5 will need to have a flawless industrial design with matching display and...

Picked up my New AT&T One X today

I visited a nearby corporate store just now and they had one hooked up all alone with Beats speakers. With all the wired cable hook ups, it looked like it was on life support! Wow I'm really impressed. From my limited demo time, I have to agree with Varsity's impressions. ICS is the first time...
