Would you have noticed any display problems if the media hadn't made an issue of it

LOL! And since nobody complained or made an issue of it, guess what we get this year? More blue phones!

Would you have noticed any display problems if the media hadn't made an issue of it

Question for you all that don't understand what the fuss is all about: What would be the threshold angle that would cause you to mind it or be bothered by it?

Would you have noticed any display problems if the media hadn't made an issue of it

Agreed. It boils down to this for me: 1. Google's QC is awful and they are manufacturing and distributing screens with widely varying display characteristics. 2. My previous phone (Nexus 6) has zero blue shift. It has no color shift at all. This is perhaps why it's so bothersome to me...

Would you have noticed any display problems if the media hadn't made an issue of it

It is weird. Because I can post a dozen respected reviews that clearly show the screen in all of its blue glory and the reviewers acknowledging it. I can't find a single review that praises the screen. Or shows a screen free of abnormal blue shift. We don't even need to leave Android Central to...

100% of the Pixel 2 XL units that I've seen have a blue tint issue and all of them, reported here and elsewhere, have the issue remarkably similar to the images that I've posted.

It's a massive QC issue. I'm staring at 2 screens that behave quite differently. And the "media" didn't create this issue. Google did. Regular users started reporting on it almost immediately and only then did the "media" pick up the stories. I would love to see your Pixel 2 XL shifting at...

Correct. And not just mine, a lot of others as well. Completely different? Your screen does not tint blue at off angles? Nice! HDR video doesn't crush blacks? Lucky! I'd love to see a comparison shot so I can show it to Google!

For those that are curious: How a 3 yo OLED panel compares to today's Pixel 2 XL screen:

Original on left, RMA on right. Camera had exposure and white balance locked (the shifting wreaked havoc without those locked!). Video is over exposed a bit - the shift happens a little sooner in real life but you should be able to see the difference between the two screens.

There is a visible difference. The replacement one shifts blue at a slightly larger angle and the blue has less of a cyan tint to it (cooler). It's also noticeably brighter. The side by side comparison I posted earlier represents the color difference almost exactly compared to what I see in...

Would you have noticed any display problems if the media hadn't made an issue of it

I'm not sure if I'm keeping either of them. Be aware that Google will make you work for an RMA if your reason is the blue shift. They will respond that the screen "is working as intended". In fact, I've heard that they are now flat out refusing RMAs for the blue shift. It took me about 20...

Would you have noticed any display problems if the media hadn't made an issue of it

Right... It's clear in those pictures that a "yellow" shift is the problem. Are you talking about the colors in the dark areas that you can't see because the Pixel 2 XL completely crushed the blacks? Just to be clear, you prefer the screen on the bottom here? How about this one? Again, 3...
