    Serious Buggyness on Android 4.2

My first photosphere produced quite a bit of force closes. A reboot appears to have fixed it, and I haven't seen one since.

    Play store error

I've had this happen before. If you click on the error it should give you a more specific error code. Try searching for that error code. The solution for me was to delete my Google account and re-add it (Settings, scroll down to your account, click it. Click your account again, click the...

    Straight Talk MMS problems

I had a lot of issues with Straight Talk MMS. Various changes would only work temporarily and intermittently. After digging around quite awhile, I managed to setup some APN settings that work first time, every time, especially for receiving messages. The trick is to use two separate APNs. One...

    LED Flashlight app?

Thanks! That does appear to work. My guess its trying to fake-out autofocus actions for the camera (which seems to be about the duration of the flash). It's not consistent, but I'll take it.

    Gingerbread Draining Battery

I didn't consider the charger. That could explain some of what I saw: charger was still present but perhaps only trickle charging. It would still register as charging on the phone, but certainly not enough to compensate for driving the screen. Are you using the provided charger? Edit: Kyocera...

    Gingerbread Draining Battery

I've seen a recharging issue twice since the update. I'm going to attempt to replicate it to see if its real or just a fluke. Both times I've woken up to a phone that had about 30% battery left, even though it was on the charger all night. I have a custom Tasker profile that turns on the Clock...

RUMOR? Echo getting 2.3 on August 1st!

Well, NFC and WiFi calling were mistakes and have been removed from the website. I had a strange feeling about this update so I went and turned off scheduled update checks yesterday. Somebody at Kyocera missed a very important test case, by the looks of it.

RUMOR? Echo getting 2.3 on August 1st!

Either this is a hidden feature, or a typo where someone was listing the new features in Gingerbread. Disabling unsupported hardware isn't unheard of, but I'd like some more confirmation on this, since it's not listed in the features section.

RUMOR? Echo getting 2.3 on August 1st!

Excellent. That was much faster than I expected, way to go Kyocera. I've been dreaming of the Gingerbread keyboard, so this is a much desired update. It looks like the Swype update will give some of the stuff I've been looking for: predictive tap and auto-correct. I may have to jump back to it...

    Echo rebooting on its own...

For those curious, the update announcement is available on Sprint's forums: Sprint Community: 6/2 - Kyocera Echo Maintenance Release... The full list: The only two issues I've been seeing is proximity sensor weirdness and reboots, so this might be a good update.

    LED Flashlight app?

Has anyone come across a LED flashlight app that works with the Echo?

    The Echo Rocks!

Forums are always filled with people with problems. The Internet Echo Chamber is a dangerous fact of life. The phone is really nice. I get better standby and single-screen battery life than my Pre-. In dual-screen mode there is nothing even remotely close (largest screen by physical dimensions...

    Echo rebooting on its own...

I've had mine for little under a week. I noticed two reboots, but their strangely similar. Both times were when the phone was unattended in a gym locker, give or take around 6PM EST. I barely get one signal bar in the locker room, so I'd imagine the gym locker works a bit like a Faraday cage...

Haven't seen this topic yet... Echo vs. Evo?

I agree things could be better. My point was simply to show that the Echo is no slouch, even though its not the fastest of the recently announced devices. Cost was probably the big reason for the same SoC. Screens tend to be the most expensive single component on a modern smartphone. Doubling...

Haven't seen this topic yet... Echo vs. Evo?

I meant Nexus S. Hummingbird and Snapdragon have some tradeoffs (Hummingbird with a faster PowerVR GPU, while Snapdragon has a much stronger FPU), but they're all essentially Coretx A8-derived, single core, running at 1GHz with 512MB of RAM.
