No such notification appears...??

I have the battery icon, however, when I select it I get all sorts of battery info, however, no connection options. BTW I am plugged into my PC and it is charging.

I have a NEXUS 6P running 7.1.1. I do not have the discussed option menu when I press the battery icon from the swipe down menu. Did this change? Is there another method to access MTP? TIA Tim
