I just started using UC Browser and am really liking it. It's fast has adblock and reflows the text when you zoom (I've not seen any other do that). It also has some nice themes.

I've used dolphin, Pyrope and ghosterly. All do a decent job of blocking ads.

I use battery widget reborn. But basically any app the puts the percentage in the notification bar would show on the second screen. Unless there are too many notifications as was stated earlier.

Type mail. It's awesome and one of the first apps I install on a new phone. I'm honestly not sure what the difference is between type mail and blue mail.

Pyrope is good or dolphin browser is a little more polished but also includes ad blocking. I agree after having ad blocking for a while it's crazy how slow and frustrating it can be to go to most web sites without it.
