Nope that wont tell ya anything about root...best thing to do is see if in apps if it has root checker app, if not down load root checker app and run it, or look in apps and see if there is a app called SuperSU
Try installing the OVA into virtual box again..i had it installed 2 times on mine cause for some reason first install didnt work and i just installed ova again and it worked.

Do you have the latest moto drivers installed? you may have to uninstall moto drivers and reinstall moto drivers or update them and you do have phone set in debug mode and MTP..
