Can I trust Samsung to push updates and patches?

Same here. My Note 9 is the best phone I've ever owned, however there was no way I was going to pay almost $1,000 when it first launched! I waited until the Note 10 was about to come out and bought one in mint condition for $475 and it was still under warranty.

Why is it so difficult to set up a new Android device.

I'm curious to know how other Android phones are far less locked down than a Samsung. My only Android experience with Android has been Samsung S8 and Note 9. I had iPhones before that. When I first got my S8, it felt like the wild west because of how much more freedom I had compared to my...

    One UI launcher issue

Since receiving Android 10 last week via Verizon, I've been having a sporadic issue with the native launcher. The feature to swipe down for the notification panel anywhere on the home page works about 80% of the time. The only thing I've found to make it work again is to turn the phone off, and...

Should I get a Note 8 for my wife?

You could find a Note 9 in that price range on Swappa. The Note 9 has better specs and will get software support for a longer time period than the Note 8. I went from an S8 to a Note 9 and have no regrets.

Pro/Cons for buying a used phone?

I bought my first used phone, a Note 9, via Swappa and had a good experience. In order to sell on Swappa, the IMEI number is vetted to make sure the phone is unlocked, pictures are required before they allow the post to go live and they provide a confirmation number that the phone is eligible...

In search of a modest upgrade over the Samsung Galaxy Note 5.

I got a Note 9 about six months ago and it's been a great phone and it should continue to get software support fur quite some time (including the Android 10 update. There are some recent reviews on this site giving it excellent marks. Can't say much and let about buying via Amazon. I've had...

    Samsung's Crappy Update Policy.

I agree, all good points. Just look at the news about Jeff Bezos iPhone X getting hacked, and via WhatsApp (a chat ap with encryption!). A majority of the security is how one uses their phone.

    Samsung's Crappy Update Policy.

I do think that the Note line gets short-changed in this respect. The first OS update comes within 6 months after launch. The Note 9 is only 18 months old and is about to get what might be it's last OS update. For that reason, I bought my Note 9 on Swappa, for less than half the launch price...

Why do you prefer the Android OS over iOS?

In response to the comment about the iPhone 6 being from a long time ago. . Yes, that was a long time ago, however my basis for the iOS comparison, with respect to file management and tasks beyond web-browsing and social media, is using my Note 9 and my 2018 iPad on iOS 13.2. Thus, I'm...

Why do you prefer the Android OS over iOS?

I came across this on Droid Life and it has generated almost 2,000 comments in just a couple of days! https://www.droid-life.com/2019/11/21/why-are-you-still-using-android/ As for me, I had both the iPhone 4 and 6, and just found the experience to be very frustrating. I experienced some...

Usage Scenarios. What will you use the S Pen for?

Just got my first Note last week and am still learning how it all works. Since I'm always looking for a pen and paper to jot down notes and have found the S-Pen really useful for jotting down notes, especially in the screen off mode. I just wish that I could return to the same note after the...

    Unlocked vs Carrier

I have an unlocked S8 that I'm using on Verizon. In order to get the Samsung find my mobile option to work, you'll need to contact Verizon directly and they can activate on their end. Also Wi-Fi calling doesn't work on my phone and while I get the monthly security updates, it isn't until after...
