You don't say where you are located. It might be that T-Mobile only has Edge or limited 3G in your local. Straight talk may not want to pay AT&T's 3G rates in your local. AT&T and T-Mobile trade service all the time but Straight Talk buys from them and is stuck with what they let them use.

Skip the At&t quick start it is more blot, skip the samsung it really does nothing only set the accounts up that you really use.

Android averages 10% on mine. I tend to restart the phone my phone about once a day to kill any programs that don't close properly.

On any of the big 4 prepaid would be the best way to go. I got my note 2 from Amazon and it is an ATT unlocked that has a 1 year warranty. Cost $550 but is unlocked.

The cable won't matter. It's the computer versus a dedicated charger. The computer will always charge much slower.
