Jumping Ship: 5 iPhone features I would consider leaving Android for

Really can't understand why android has done this - sure I can see that many people want a larger phone but surely there is still a sizeable grouping who prefer smaller

Budget Phone: Nokia 6 or Moto G5 Plus?

I used a Moto G4 until recently and found that the notification was indeed very useful . My previous phone (a Sony) did have a notification LED which served a similar purpose i.e. let you know at a glance that there was a missed message or call - I couldn't find that on the Moto. Regarding...

Who is interested in the Nokia 3?

I tried a MotoG4 for almost 12 months primarily to avail of the update strategy ( being close to stock Android) . However I really missed things like a separate "phone" account i.e. contacts stored on phone only , not in the cloud. Eventually sold the Moto and fell back to my old Xperia J whilst...

Is your main "computer" a Desktop, Laptop, or a Smartphone?

50% desktop (Windows and Linux), 50% tablet (ipad). I couldn't use a smartphone as a main computer - no way would the screen would be big enough (for me) and typing is anything but comfortable. I wonder if the smartphone phenomenon hasn't gone too far - they were fine for phone, sms even whatsapp...

I caved in and just bought an apple phone!

I have always stayed clear of iPhones because of the price ( way too expensive for me although Android flagships can be equally s expensive) . However I am tempted for the same reasons you mention Screensize - I dislike large screens. Currently using a Moto G4 which is 5.5 inches and find it...

    Upgrade time, G4 or G5

Yes - I definitely got the N upgrade a while back . As for the G4 / G5 issue personally I would go for the smaller screen as I have found the 5.5 screen just too big for comfortable day-to-day use both in terms of one-hand use and also carrying around it in ones pocket

Problems with replacing incoming call screen

I have reverted temporarily to my previous phone a Sony Xperia running android 4.1 and turns out the incoming cal screen app I was trying to use works on it. Don't know whether it is Sony v Motorola (Lenovo) or android 4.1 v 7. On a slight aside if wifi, data etc are turned off on the Sony...

Problems with replacing incoming call screen

No - the whole point of the button in these apps is to avoid swiping . I did email three of the developers. Responses from two - one promised to look into it - the other said they used to keep a list of all the devices and the success or otherwise of their app but the variety of devices/setups...

Why can't I answer a phone call on my Galaxy S7 Edge by pressing on the green phone icon?

MikeRotch76 - couldn't agree more. I consider myself a technophile but trying to answer smartphones is anything but intuitive. To the point where although I love the apps I am thinking about going back to a button phone - green to answer , red to hang up and no screens jumping about when trying...

Problems with replacing incoming call screen

Thanks B. Diddy - I wasn't sure whether to repost but couldn't see any other way to post in MotoG4 forum. No screen dimming apps (other than Moto's adaptive brightness setting). I appreciate the reason for the swipe action - just don't like it. Funny thing is the reject button always seems to...

    Its "hello" from me

Hello everyone, Long time IT techie (back as far as CP/M) from the Emerald Isle . PC techie Windows and Linux . Member of the "over the hill" / "grey hair" brigade . Have used phones from Nokia-Samsung-Sony-Moto(current) over maybe 15-20 years. Like the idea of "smartphone" but not convinced...

Problems with replacing incoming call screen

acejavelin. Thanks for your reply and your answer sounds logical . I was hoping that the android freedom to change philosophy would allow such a change. As you suggest I have reposted in the correct forum (sorry - got my years mixed up) and amended the title here
