Sometimes custom ROMs have a problem with AA working correctly. Try flashing back to 100% stock Android and see if the problem persists.

Try a different, high quality data cable.

These issues are frequently cable related. I know you said you've tried a couple of cables, but have you tried the original Samsung cable that came with the phone? Are the connectors on the ends worn, or pins slightly bent? Perhaps try a new, high quality cable...

It does sound like a Bluetooth connection (or lack of the same) issue between device and vehicle. I'd start by making car and device forget each other. Then I'd try to manually pair the phone Bluetooth with your vehicle. After (if?) that's done successfully, I'll bet AA works just fine.

I'm very surprised. Using my Nexus 6 and Google Maps for navigation (via AA), on a 10 hour trip, I started the trip at about 80% charge and finished at 100%. 2016 Chevrolet.

I have a 2016 Ford Edge that was built mid August (2016). It has Sync 3 version 2.0 (which is necessary for Android Auto to work). Ford started installing version 2.0 in F150's and Edge's built after mid July. Android Auto and Google Maps working great.

That's weird. Neither my old Nexus 6, nor my Pixel XL do this. And I doubt it's related to the vehicle, as we both have C7's. And it doesn't make sense that it should be related to your S7 either. Well, FWIW I've never seen that behavior.

This does work for me. If I say "navigate to Bill Walls" (and his address is in his contact info), it works.
