I bought the A1 X4 last month and within a few days it got 8.0 and then 8.1. Unfortunately 8.1 bricked data over the USB port unless you remove the LockScreen. Not knowing how long it would take to fix this I sent it back.
There are two ways to do this on stock Android.
1.) You can assign a ringtone to individuals in your contact list from the upper right menu in each contact's card. Lot of work if you want all of them.
2.) Put the phone in DND priority mode, and set the calls in priority only to "contacts".
That's the only thing you can do. No data... can't transfer data to/from a computer, or connect it to Android Auto (unless you want to remove all screenlocks from the phone).
Wait for a fix. 8.1 bricked all USB data on this phone. You can work around it by turning off screen lock and reboot, but who wants to carry an unlocked phone?
My 6P was purchased from Project Fi and I was stuck on the August update as well. My brother and niece bought theirs from Google and are on T-Mobile; their update status has been identical to mine.
I am on FI and got it this morning. Everything seems to be working except I have no notification dots (despite them being turned on in "Apps & notifications").
Any of you seeing the same behavior?
Yup… "Hey Google, tell our groceries to add whiskey to Safeway"
In this case 'Safeway' is one of my shopping lists. You can also set any list to be the default. I made Safeway my default so I just say "Hey Google, tell our groceries to add whiskey", and it responds that it added it to Safeway...
