Contacts by Last Name Froyo Does this now. If you're rooted and are using Froyo go to Contacts app hit the menu key and go to Display Options. You'll see the options for "Sort list by" and "View contact names as". One of the great additions to Froyo.

I actually went through my gmail contact and just switched them all to Last, First. I only have about 100 contacts so it wasn't that bad, but still, having the option to sort by last name so I don't have to do that would be nice.

I don't like that it does not natively support IT policy enforcement and therefore have to pay for a 3rd party app to sync with exchange (although Touchdown is a nice app and better than similar apps available for Blackberry). This is probably silly, but I wish I had the option to sort contacts...

Contacts I have had somewhat similar problems....When I first setup my phone with my accounts (gmail & facebook) everything synced great. All my contacts were in my phone, I could choose which gmails groups to show, contacts had their FB pictures. However, and maybe I'm just a bit picky here...
