    I can't speak for the others, but my Nexus 4 is still relatively stock because of the clean install I did of Android 4.3 last week. Now I'm biding my time until all the custom ROMs start rolling out.

    Springpad is my favorite for notes. It saves all notes online, lets you edit from any computer, and you can share notes with other people/allow others to edit your notes. Hi-Q MP3 Voice Recorder is great for recording because it records directly into MP3 format. Pretty handy, and saves space.

    I've never had a problem with the build-in Wi-Fi tethering. It sounds like the problem might be a configuration with your computer's copy of Windows. Did you try using a different security type (Open, WPA, WPA2)?
