I had always on turned off so I tried switching it to on. Still nothing.

I got my Pixel 2 yesterday and have noticed the led light never turns on. I have blink light toggled to on, but I don't get a light with notifications or even when charging. Am I missing a setting somewhere or is my light most likely defective?
