    [HOW-TO] Get a rooted version of EE4

Use Odin and reflash one of the stock ROMs, such as ED1, ED2, or EE4, and you should be able to start over from there.

    Display Draining Battery

What percentage of battery drain is showing for the display is really meaningless. It just depends on what you are doing. If you shut down everything and just leave your display on, it will be over 90%, but that has nothing to do with battery life, that just shows how much of the battery drain...

Anyone get an IM like this?

Google it. There's lots of info with various solutions to the problem, it looks like. Never seen it myself.

How can I update to the new OTA update? (phone is rooted ED1)

First, disable the Voodoo lagfix, either by booting in to CWM and doing it there, or creating a folder or file called disable-lagfix in your /voodoo folder on your SDCard, then rebooting so it can do the conversion. Then, use Odin (just like you did to install AB) to flash one of these files...

    P3Droid announced Gingerbread release

He's talking about amateur devs releasing it, not Samsung/Verizon.

100% newb to root question (s)

Yes, there have been version of the stock ROMs posted you can always flash back to. Yes, the lagfix doesn't change anything except which file system is being used on certain portions of your internal memory. Not really, but in day to day use you will have to explicitly grant access to a program...

100% newb to root question (s)

That's a button in Odin, the software you use to do the initial flash for Clockwork Mod (or potentially the full ROM and everything, depending on which install you are doing).

    [HOW-TO] Get a rooted version of EE4

Yes, you need to have the battery out to be able to boot in to the "download" mode that works with Odin. However, I had to put the battery back in (after already being in download mode and connected to Odin) before it would successfully flash for me. Not necessarily, but yes using this method...

    [HOW-TO] Get a rooted version of EE4

If you just go in to CWM and do a system restore/data wipe, it will wipe everything out and start you with a freshly installed version of the ROM. It would be much quicker and simpler to try that first.

    Newb questions

Should be right here: http://forum.androidcentral.com/droid-charge-rooting-roms-hacks/86950-odin-rom-6-20-11-acs-altered-beast-alpha-5-ee4-based.html @Aixelsyd - no problem, figured you must have just glanced at the baseband.

    Newb questions

Aixelsyd is incorrect. You are NOT on EE4 - you downgraded yourself to ED2. You downloaded an older version of Altered Beast, and should get the new one and flash that. The last line of your screen shot shows what firmware you are running. The .ED2 at the end means you are running ED2, not EE4.

100% newb to root question (s)

Yes. No. Yes, could be any combination of those. Some ROM devs don't theme, preferring an AOSP (that stands for Android Open Source Project, the original Android source) look and feel you can customize on your own. ROMs are almost always deodexed and zipaligned (you can google those to find out...

    [HOW-TO] Get a rooted version of EE4

Have you tried a different computer?

    [HOW-TO] Get a rooted version of EE4

Yes, you have it enabled. It's only some of the directories that get converted - the ones that are heavily used and get the most benefit. Ones like /preinstall aren't really used so wouldn't give you an improvement.

Wait for Gingerbread or root now?

You'll want to update that if you are in an LTE (4G) area. That's your LTE radio, and they're supposed to have fixed some bugs in moving from the ED1 to the EE4 baseband. If you are not in an LTE area and only run CDMA for data, you should be fine.
