Google Play download speeds via 4G are awful

It makes me question whether or not Google's connections are really source-agnostic like the rep told me. Somewhere, some prioritization is going on. But as I mentioned in another reply, I'm hopeful that all this is related to Google being overwhelmed in the run-up to and implementation of all...

Google Play download speeds via 4G are awful

Thanks for the response. I don't think it's the device. I've had my secondhand Nexus for a couple of months now and only in the last 1-2 weeks has this been an issue. I wonder if it isn't related to the avalanche of new stuff Google is rolling out and users are subsequently jumping on to...

Google Play download speeds via 4G are awful

Back again to crummy performance, since about noon eastern time. Downloads from the Play Store just crawwwwwwwwwl over 4G, fine over wifi. Streaming of music using the Google Play Music app results in frequent stops for buffering, fine over wifi. I'm watching a video via Netflix now via 4G and...

Google Play download speeds via 4G are awful

And this morning, the problem does not seem to be present. Good speeds over wifi and blazing speeds over 4G. Kind of frustrating...very frustrating, actually. Will continue to monitor to see of there is any pattern to when the 4G-only slowdowns occur.

Google Play download speeds via 4G are awful

I hope like heck somebody else is having the same problem. For at least a week and maybe closer to two, I have been experiencing terrible indicated download speeds of apps from the Play Store when downloading via 4G. For example, downloading the Facebook app, an 18 MB file, took almost five...

    Upgrade to Bionic?

I activated my Bionic yesterday morning and have been using it quite heavily in the last 24+ hours. I'm loving it so far, and I reckon it's *the* 4G device of choice for a Droid X user (lover). That said, I will say that the screen is not quite as good as the one on my Droid X. Colors look a bit...

    Upgrade to Bionic?

I made the move and ordered a Bionic on Tuesday...it's waiting on me at home as I type this. I've been using a Droid X since last October and once it's rooted and ROM'd it's an awesome device. I would keep on using the X for the foreseeable future, but the upcoming policy change at Verizon...

    Kindle Fire Cases

Portenzo Kindle Fire Case It takes a while to obtain one of these, but it was worth it. I elected the IntelliStand option which uses hidden magnets to turn the case into a stand.

Kindle Fire 6.3 update is live

Best enhancement: the brightness control actually works now. Previously the screen would dim down to about 50% on the slider but no more resulting in a screen that's way too bright in a dimly lit or dark room. The slider now is effective through all its travel AND the screen's lowest brightness...

Do I really need a new phone? (Upgrade ponderings)

Up until a couple of weeks ago, when I *finally* got brave enough to install a different ROM on my phone (after rooting it quite some time ago), I was ready to run over my Droid X with a car. Installing MIUI on my device transformed it--faster, smoother, prettier...even the Wi-Fi works better...

    Crackle App

Crackle runs OK on my stock Kindle Fire, its main issue being slightly out-of-sync video and audio. It's also more susceptible to network hiccups, which leads me to believe it doesn't buffer as effectively as it would on a phone, which is what the app is intended for. Of the four means of...

Trouble with Flash / watching videos

If you have a rooted Android phone with the latest version of Flash installed, you can try this: 1. Make sure you have Dropbox installed and set up on both your Kindle Fire and your Android phone. 2. Using Root Explorer (or other similar program), navigate to /data/app. Find the Flash .apk...

    Swapping between two phones

It's easy and can be done on their website. I went through a month-long spell where I wound up using four different phones and had no problem activating them myself. Just have the MEID HEX numbers handy when you're on the website and it will be smooth sailing. Then all you have to do is make a...
