You are. If the charger was capable of delivering say 4 amps whilst maintaining 5 Volts then you would have found it took exactly the same time to charge before and after any updates.

Pins 2&3 should be connected together, these are the two pins used for data, if they are not connected together, for example if your using a USB data lead to charge the phone, it will current limit at 500mA. AC chargers have pins 2&3 connected together.

This is so simple, the charger is not capable of supplying the necessary current at 5 Volts. Lollipop may well in its quiescent state consume more power than its predecessor, the crap chargers cannot supply the required current at whilst maintaining 5 Volts simple.

The problem has nothing to do with the software, just the crap chargers, if you apply 5 Volts to the phone capable of delivering >2-3 Amps then it will charge as quickly as possible.

The situation regarding charging is very simple. Firstly unless pins 2&3 of the USB connector are shorted together the Nexus 5 assumes it's plugged into a USB Data port and as per Android O/S will only ever draw 500mA of current. No In-Car chargers short together pins 2&3 so they will never...
