Just want to chime in as well. Sideloaded KitKat yesterday and charged my N4 overnight via wireless orb. Everything works so far, no annoying force closes - even from the notification shade. Seems 4.4 was the cure.

Sigh, negative ghostrider, the auto date/time zone trick didn't work. Opened up messenging and it force closed on me. Clearing out my recent apps seems to have rectified the problem the for now. Guess I'll have to plug my N4 the old way. Even that has charging issues.

Do let us know if the 4.4 kitkat upgrade solves/removes this annoying issue!

Good stuff scoutzdad. I tried checking off the automatic time zone and date as well as the daylight savings time. I then checked it back on. We'll see what happens tomorrow morning. I put my N4 on the wireless orb as well. Anyone want to place bets to see what happens? ;-)

Two helpful tips that helped me during this part of the installation. 1) When renaming the file to update, make sure the file you renamed on your PC remains as a .zip file (file should have the .zip icon). and 2) Make sure the update.zip file is in your mini-sdk folder (by default, C:\mini-sdk).

Odd, I noticed the opposite. When I place my N4 on the charging orb, it takes longer to get to full charge as opposed to when it was on 4.2.2

I gave up and just sideloaded 4.3. Had some issues updating Google maps, but all is fine and fixed.
