So…. After some more digging around, I have answered my own question here. I eventually connected my phone to my laptop using a usb c to usb c cable and hey presto it is all now working OK.

I have what seems to me a very simple problem. I have a file on my Google Pixel 10 pro phone I need to transfer to a Windows 10 PC without the aid of wi-fi. I have plugged a USB cable into my phone and into my laptop. The phone will chime and the charge icon at the top of the screen will show...
