Exactly, Google needs to continue creating updates to and fixes for Lollipop, 5.1.2,5.2, 5.2.1, 5.2.2 ext.. Older phones that got Lollipop won't get Marshmallow, so those people need bug fixes and updates for Lollipop. Marshmallow is just a glorified Lollipop patch.

T-Mobile actually does the least amount of carrier change to the Samsung software version released. Which is why they are quicker to release updates than ATT or Verizon.
